Epson's projector division has announced it has been named Official Projector Partner for the Cirque du Soleil Entertainment Group, the Montreal-based creative powerhouse behind long-running Las Vegas hit shows such as O and The Beatles Love, as well as more than 20 other residencies and touring productions worldwide.

As part of the new arrangement, Epson says it will work with Cirque du Soleil's creative team to develop new ideas and provide large-venue 3LCD projectors as the company moves to build ever-more immersive entertainments. An Epson statement said its projectors will "power Cirque du Soleil concepts and play a crucial role in manifesting Cirque du Soleil's visions into a reality."
Epson's efforts will be focused on bringing to fruition future Cirque entertainments across North and South America, and brings with it marketing benefits that will allow Epson to take advantage of Cirque du Soleil's strong public brand recognition. The two companies will be cross-promoting the partnerhsip across various marketing channels, including a new dedicated web page on Epson's site, social media promotion, special event appearances and collaborations, and exclusive content creation and distribution.

In a statement issued by Epson, Richard Miller, VP for commercial marketing and service at Epson America, noted that "This partnership provides an opportunity for Epson to collaborate with a renowned live entertainment brand and demonstrate the power of Epson's large-venue laser projector lineup." He added that "Merging sophisticated projection with Cirque du Soleil's awe-inspiring imagination enables the creation of extraordinary, immersive and unique experiences, and we look forward to helping them bring their creative concepts to life."
Lauren Hard, Head of Partnership Strategy at Cirque du Soleil, said that "With Epson's cutting-edge projection and industry expertise, we will be able to design and deliver true immersion into creative visuals unlike anything we've done before. Our team is eagerly anticipating the opportunity to explore the power of Epson projection firsthand."
Cirque du Soleil, now 40 years old, began in 1984 as a troupe of stilt-walking street performers in a village near Quebec City. It launched its first permanent show with Mystere at a custom theater in the Treasrue Island Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas in 1993; this remains the company's longest running show. As of today, they are actively producing 23 shows and touring productions, and Cirque's parent company, the Cirque du Soleil Entertainment Group, operates divisions involved in creating custom entertainment for theme parks, special events, multimedia productions, and other avenues. More than 400 million people across six continents and 86 countries have attended Cirque performances, and the firm employs 4,000, including 1,200 artists.
