As promised in January at this year's CES, Samsung has refreshed its line of Premiere ultra-short throw projectors with two updated units that replace the company's current LSP9T triple laser and LSP7T single laser models.

Though cosmetically similar to the existing line—which introduced a modern, Scandinavian design with rounded edges and a fabric finish from the Danish design firm Kvadrat—the new models come with additional brightness and user features. The new model LPU9D, dubbed Premiere 9, replaces the LSP9T and brings a significant boost in brightness from 2,800 ANSI to 3,450 ISO lumens. Model LPU7D, tagged Premiere 7, brings Samsung's single-laser UST from 2,200 ANSI up to 2,500 ISO lumens. The Premiere 9 can project 4K images up to 130-inches diagonal, while the Premiere 7 does 4K up to 120 inches. Both models are compatible with HDR content including HDR10+ dynamic HDR.
Both projectors are equipped with refreshed processing including the company's 4K AI Upscaling, and a Vision Booster feature that automatically adjusts color and contrast to optimize the image based on the lighting conditions. Both also feature an advanced version of Samsung's Tizen OS smart/streaming platform. In addition to its inclusion of native apps for most major streaming services, including Netflix, it features access to the Samsung Gaming Hub introduced in earlier projectors and TVs for online gaming without a console. The projector functions as a smart speaker for music playback and allows for voice control that extends to Samsung's integrated SmartThings hub for managing devics such as lights and thermostats. A Custom Ambient mode provides a variety of atmospheric projections that can include personal photos or other downloaded content or through integrated widgets.
The premium audio system introduced in the earlier models has been carried over, with the Premiere 9 offering a 40-watt, 2.2.2-channel Dolby Atmos system with upfiring drivers and the Premiere 7 touting a 30-watt, 2.2-channel system.

The Premiere 9 and The Premiere 7 are available now at $6,799 MSRP ($6,499 street price) for the Premiere 9 and $3,799 MSRP ($3,499 street) for the Premiere 7 at Samsung.com and select retailers. Through September 15th, Samsung is incentivizing customers by offering a free Freestyle 2nd Gen lifestyle projector with the purchase of either model.
